Download the program to reinstall the Windows 7 system. WinToHDD Installing, reinstalling and cloning Windows

Install the OS from it. If you don’t have this option or want to try out the operating system, you can download a disk image from the official website. This article will tell you how to install it yourself and not mess it up.

Most of Windows 7 on the Internet are not licensed

Who seeks will always find

To get the maximum from the Internet for free, you first need to find where to download it. There are plenty of safe sites on the Internet. The only thing is that most of these versions are not licensed, and therefore, after 30 days the system will require an activation key. On the Internet you can find a cracked OS that has a built-in tablet and does not require activation.

The ultimate Windows 7 opens up a wide range of possibilities for the user. This is a productive and advanced version. It offers additional features, encryption system, multilingual user interface, etc. Take this into account, since some highly specialized programs require the “maximum” edition of the OS.

OS installation methods: flash drive and others

The most common way is . This method can be used regardless of whether there is a disk drive or not. So, to reinstall Windows 7 from a flash drive, we create a bootable drive. If you already have it, from friends or acquaintances, then it’s a small matter: restart your computer and wait for the automatic installation of the OS to begin.

If you only have a disk image with installation files and an empty flash drive, you will have to create a . There are many options, but we'll take the simple route. Download one of the programs:

  1. Ultra ISO
  2. Windows 7
  3. WinSetupFromUSB

Transfer the downloaded ISO image to a flash drive. Easier than USB/DVD Download Tool. We indicate the location of the image on the PC and click “Next”. After a couple of seconds, the installation flash drive is ready.

First you need to mount the Microsoft Windows 7 image onto a USB flash drive.

Installing Windows 7 from a flash drive via BIOS or boot menu is a simple process. To configure the BIOS you need to know the hot keys to enter this mode. They are different for each computer model. Therefore, first scour the Internet and find the desired combination. After turning on the PC, press the keys and a menu will open in front of you:

  • We are looking for the “Startup Settings” section (called Boot – “Boot Device Priority)
  • Select the flash drive as the first boot device
  • To exit the BIOS press F10
  • The computer restarts and automatic installation begins

The problem with this method is that you will then have to go into the BIOS again and change the startup settings back.

We enter the BIOS when starting the computer

Another method is to launch the boot menu. It also requires a special button: Del, Esc, F2, or others. In the dialog box, you immediately change the launch parameters, and the OS installation begins. Moreover, the parameters automatically return to standard. You can install Windows 7 via bios not only using a flash drive, but also an installation disk. We will not consider installing Windows from a disk, since the process is no different from the one described above, only it does not require preliminary configuration of the media. The disc must be inserted into the drive and the PC restarted. If you can’t install Windows 7 on your computer, you need to go back to the BIOS or boot menu and do the same steps.

enter the boot menu - press the buttons: Del, Esc, F2 or others.

HDD

Few people know, but you can install Windows 7 from your hard drive. This option is suitable for those who want to install Windows without a disk or flash drive. This method is very simple in that you don’t have to create an installation flash drive or delve into the BIOS. To start the required process we need:

  • OS ISO image
  • Any program for working with images (Daemon Tools)
  • To work with boot record you may need EasyBCD

After you have found an OS image on the Internet, you need to prepare your hard drive. To do this, you need to create a partition for the OS on the hard drive:

After you have found an OS image on the Internet, you need to prepare your hard drive
  • “Start” – “Computer” (right mouse button) – “Management” (run as administrator)
  • "Disk Management"
  • Depending on how many drives are on your PC, we will need to work NOT with the system one.
  • We do not touch the system disk, select the second one and right-click “Shrink Volume”.
  • We determine the volume we need - 25 GB is enough - “Compress”
  • A new disk will appear in the window, but it is not ready yet. Right-click on the new part and select “Create simple volume”
  • Here you can give the disk a name, for example, D and click OK. We are waiting for formatting. Ready.

There are also other ways to create a partition on a disk, using third-party programs.

So, when the HDD is ready for work, download the above programs and install them. Using Daemon Tools, you need to unpack the image and transfer the installation files from the virtual disk to the D partition we created.

Using Daemon Tools you need to unpack the image and transfer the installation files from the virtual disk

Run EasyBCD as administrator. In the Add New Entry menu, select the WinPE tab and in the Name field name our system (as you like). Below we indicate the path to the boot.wim file, which is located in the sources folder on the disk we created earlier. Click Add Entry. The hard drive is ready for installation.

Network boot

There is a Windows 7 installation over the network. This method is very complex and time consuming. You will need a Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows 7, a distribution kit with Windows 7 and DHCP and TFTP servers. If you don’t understand this, then there is no point in even delving into this topic. It is better to use one of the above methods for installing the OS.

Installation process

If you decide to install Windows 7 from the Internet for free, all you have to do is follow the step-by-step instructions and make sure you enter the data correctly. Regardless of the method you want to use, after turning on the computer, Windows will automatically install:

Installing Windows 7 takes some time, depending on the power of your computer
  • Choosing a language
  • We accept the terms of the license agreement
  • Select “Full installation”
  • It is recommended to format all drives
  • The PC will reboot and continue installation
  • Give and set a password
  • In the activation window, click “Next”
  • "Use recommended settings"
  • Setting the date and time
  • Searching for your home network

Further work with the operating system

If it doesn’t start on Windows 7, you’ll have to look for the right software. Program . Programs for installing drivers on Windows 7 are useful if you do not have an installation disk with all the necessary starting materials.

After reinstalling the OS, you need to load drivers for the video card so that the image is correct, drivers for the sound video card, the necessary programs for Windows 7, such as Microsoft Office and a browser.

System errors

Problems may arise during OS installation. One of the main ones is the location from where you are trying to download Windows 7 for free. Initially, the installation files may be incorrect, and therefore problems will arise during installation. A common error is when the necessary drivers are not found when installing Windows 7. This error is due to the presence of two USB 2.0 and 3.0 connectors on modern computers. You can fix this problem by moving the flash drive from one slot to another.

A common error when the necessary drivers are not found when installing Windows 7

Users often encounter the problem that Windows 7 cannot be installed on their hard drive. This issue is due to errors in creating bootable media. The reason may be user inattention. Some drives do not read all discs, especially older models. Also, the computer can independently protect the system from pirated copies, so during . If you still have problems, it is better to contact the service center.

Friends, many letters come with the question of how to properly reinstall or update the Windows 7 operating system and what exactly is the difference between these two concepts.

Letter No. 1. Please bring clarity to a question that is confusing for many, than reinstalling Windows 7 different from the update and which is better to prefer? The operating system 7 I have installed behaves extremely unstable, it takes a long time to load, many programs have stopped installing, sometimes errors like this appear, for example, some system file or dynamic library is missing. Rolling back a significant period of time using a restore point did not help. I don’t want to reinstall again, since I have a lot of programs installed. In your comment you said that you need to restore system files, put things in order in startup, optimize Windows 7, or, as a last resort, update or reinstall Windows 7, but unfortunately I haven’t heard anything about the latter.

I would like to know, firstly:
How to actually carry out this update or reinstallation of the operating system and what will happen to my personal files on the system partition, will they be lost?
Secondly: they say that the update is launched only from a running operating system. Is it so? After all, it was possible to run an update in XP even when the system did not boot at all. Thanks in advance, Pavel.

Reinstalling Windows 7

To make everything clear to you, I will walk you through the process of updating your operating system, and then I will show you how to reinstall Windows 7 in two ways and you will see everything with your own eyes, but first I will still explain to you what an Update is and Reinstalling Windows 7.

What is a Windows 7 update?

This is installing a system on top of the old one, that is, you insert a disk with the Windows 7 distribution and start installing the system directly in the running 7, but in the installation menu you select not a full installation, but an update. What does it give?
First of all, damaged system files will be replaced, working system files will not be replaced, nothing will happen to your personal data: installed applications, documents, music, all your programs will run and your entire household on all disks will remain untouched. Also, user accounts will be transferred without changes; all this will be done by the Windows Easy Transfer tool (very important files, it is still better to transfer them manually). I also want to say that you will have to re-enter the product key, select the language, region, set the time, and so on. Warning. If you have a counterfeit Windows 7, after upgrading you will have a window in the lower right corner of your desktop warning you that your copy of Windows is not genuine.

  • They also often ask how the Data Transfer Tool works? When updating Windows 7, temporary folders of your data will be created containing information about user accounts and settings, your email, files in the Favorites folder, personal files and user folders - music, images, videos, as well as parameters of installed programs . Once your system is updated, all data will return to its place, and temporary folders will be deleted. When upgrading, the data transfer tool does not allow the user to select files to transfer, but when reinstalling, you can select what you want to transfer (details below).

Will the update solve all your problems related to Windows 7? In most cases, Yes, but unfortunately no one can guarantee a 100% result here. In my opinion, if possible, it is better to delete and reformat the partition with a poorly functioning operating system, having first transferred all important files to other hard drive volumes or a portable USB drive and reinstall the system with all programs.

  • Note: Windows XP has the same update mechanism and it can be launched both in a running operating system, and in cases where you cannot log into Windows XP due to problems, then you can boot from the XP installation disk and select setup menu option, . Please be aware that in Windows 7, unfortunately, there is no such option and the update can only be carried out in a running operating system.

What is reinstalling Windows 7?

Reinstallation is a complete replacement of all operating system files, that is, formatting a partition with an unstable system and installing Windows 7 again. Naturally, all your files and the system itself will be deleted from the drive (C:). In order to transfer all your files from the system drive (C:), you will need to use Windows Easy Transfer, but it will no longer work automatically, as in the case of an update, but we will use it ourselves and we will also choose what we need to transfer from the old system to the new one ourselves.

  • Now this begs the question: What is the difference between reinstalling the system and installing it again? Friends are just here. When reinstalling Windows 7, you can use File Transfer Tool if you wish, since you already had the system installed once, but when simply installing the system again, install the system on the partition of the new hard drive you created. In short, here it is, I don’t know how to explain it more clearly!

What can I say, let's first update my Windows 7 together, and at the end of the article we will reinstall the system using the file transfer tool, it has also been working with errors for me lately and you will see with your own eyes, and then select what you need.

Windows 7 update

We insert the installation disk with Windows 7 into the drive; if you do not have autorun, click setup.exe.

Before updating, we can connect to the internet and download the latest updates from the official Microsoft website

Select Update

Compatibility check

Copy Windows files

Collecting files, settings, and programs, Unpacking Windows files, Installing features and updates, Transferring settings and program files

The computer restarts.

At this point you need to boot from the hard drive, and not a bootable USB flash drive or boot disk with Win 7.

Updating Registry Settings

Enter the key

Setting the time

The update process is completed, the accounts are saved

All my files are in place, all programs run.

Reinstalling Windows 7

Now let's find out what Reinstalling Windows 7 is. According to the rules, we will reinstall Windows 7 on the same disk on which the old operating system is installed. If Windows was previously installed, for example, on the (C:) partition, then you need to reinstall it on the (C:) partition and not on any other partition (otherwise this will be the installation of a second operating system). All your files on the partition (C:) will be replaced with files from the newly installed Windows 7 operating system.

  • First of all, we will launch the Data Transfer Tool, which will copy all our personal data from the Windows 7 partition to portable media or another hard drive partition, then we will boot from the Windows 7 installation disk (how to install it in) and install the system again. Immediately after installing Windows 7, let's launch Data Transfer Tool and copy all our files back, as a result we will get a new operating system and all our data: music, documents, personal folders, and so on.
  • Note: You may ask: Is it possible to start installing a new system directly from a running Windows 7 and not go into the BIOS. Answer: This method is given at the end and we will also consider it.

Let's now see what the Data Transfer Tool will transfer from our files, let's launch it.

Start, write in the input field Data Transfer Tool

In this window we see detailed information about which files we can transfer from the old operating system to the new one, we will now select.

The data transfer tool suggests us to use:

  • Data transfer cable - a cable specially designed for this purpose, which still needs to be purchased, is used to transfer files between two computers; in principle, we do not need this, because we have one computer.
  • Network – transferring files over the network is also not our option.
  • External drive or USB flash memory device. What we need. If you don't have much data, you can even use an 8GB or 16GB flash drive. By the way, if you don’t have a flash drive or a portable USB drive, you can use another partition of your hard drive for storage, like I did for example.

So you selected an External drive or USB flash memory device, and I selected a partition on the hard drive (D:).

We select This is my source computer, that is, the data needs to be transferred from it.

Data that can be transferred to the new system is analyzed at Usernames and General elements, click Settings, and also if you click Advanced, a full picture of what the Data Transfer Tool will include in the archive will open.

Please note that the archive includes the folders of both operating system users and personal data, this is correct. But we definitely don’t need to transfer data located on all partitions of the hard drive except the system one (C:), since we will be reinstalling Windows 7 located on (C:) and the reinstallation process in our case will only affect the system partition ( WITH:). Uncheck all hard drives.

However, if you decide to transfer data from all partitions, you can leave the checkbox unchecked, just keep in mind that the data transfer file in this case will occupy a very large volume..
What else should not be included in the archive that the data migration tool will create? For example, you may not include the C:\Program Files folder; it would be safer to install all programs again after reinstalling Windows 7.
So click Save, you can assign a password

The file transfer process is in progress. A transfer file with the extension (MIG) is created on disk (D:)

Now it’s time to reinstall Windows 7, insert the installation disk with the seven into the drive and reboot, at the beginning of the installation it’s better to click on the Disk Setup button and select Format partition with the previous Windows 7, and in general the whole process step by step, starting from changing the boot device priority in the BIOS and before installing the operating system itself, described in our article.
I think you’ve done it and installed the system, now let’s use our Data Transfer Tool again.

Select This is my new computer (you need to transfer files and settings to this computer)

Your external hard drive with the data transfer file should already be connected.
I, in turn, indicate the hard drive partition (D:), the transfer file is located there.

We can click Settings and select files to transfer to the new system manually, as we have already done, or simply click Transfer.

The transfer is complete, we can look at the report and also make sure that all your files have been transferred to the new system.

The free WinToHDD program combines three useful tools. Using WinToHDD, the user will be able to install or reinstall Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 without using an installation CD/DVD disk or bootable USB flash drive, using an ISO distribution image, as well as clone the system to a disk to quickly transfer an already installed operating system with configured settings to another computer or to create a backup copy of Windows, which will be useful for quickly restoring the system in case of failure or failure. The utility is easy to use and does not require special knowledge from the user.

Installing Windows without an installation CD/DVD and without a bootable USB flash drive

After launching WinToHDD, the main program window opens, which contains three large buttons. One is for reinstalling Windows, the second is for a new installation of Windows on a different drive (not the one from which the system was loaded), and the third button is for cloning, a sector-by-sector copy of the system partition. When installing or reinstalling Windows, the program will need to specify the ISO image file of the Windows installation disk or specify the CD/DVD drive in which the Windows distribution is located.

It has long been a known fact: the Windows operating system loses its stability over time. Regular freezes, many useless functions, garbage in the registry. Experts recommend reinstalling Windows from scratch at least once a year. Most users associate reinstalling Windows as a lengthy, routine process, usually accompanied by formatting the hard drive. In general, this is true - if you do everything manually and the old fashioned way. But it’s already the 21st century, and it’s time to forget about manual routine work and data loss! Delegate the reinstallation of Windows to a professional in the field of automation of program installation work - Almeza MultiSet!

There are two modes for reinstalling Windows: restoring the Windows OS (installation over the current OS version (repair reinstall)) or a complete reinstallation. A restore preserves your current settings, but a complete reinstallation results in a truly new version of Windows. Almeza MultiSet can reinstall Windows in both modes. Moreover, in the complete reinstallation mode, the MultiSet program is capable, after auto-installing the OS itself, of independently, automatically installing all the required software: drivers, service packs, localizations for programs, server software, etc. After installing the applications themselves, each program is automatically configured, and if desired, you can immediately perform auto-tuning of the Windows OS.

Thus, regardless of the Windows reinstallation mode, the end result of Almeza MultiSet will be the same: a fresh version of the OS + installed drivers + a set of programs configured in the way you need. No formatting of the hard drive is required. There is no data loss.

The product of the Almeza MultiSet program is a ready-made distribution kit for automatic installation of Windows and programs. Almeza MultiSet can also make bootable CD/DVD disks; such disks can be used as a lifeline after another system crash. To completely restore the system, you only need to insert such a disk into the CD/DVD drive and configure the BIOS to boot from this device. The system will recover in less than 40 minutes!

Almeza MultiSet will be very useful for system administrators who maintain a large number of computers. MultiSet can automatically install sets of programs - remotely via a local network. Thus, to update any software, there is no need to go “personally” to each computer; this can be completely delegated to Almeza MultiSet!

With Almeza MultiSet, reinstalling Windows will no longer be a scary event for you. Do your interesting things during auto-installation and enjoy automation!

Rest more often, work less, live interestingly!

If you still think that installing an operating system is an activity for computer technicians, then you are seriously mistaken.

Using this guide, you can install Windows 7, even if you are a novice PC user. So, let's get ready first.

  1. Open "My computer" and see in which partition your system is currently installed.
Remember its size and name so that you can find the volume you need during installation.
  2. Collect in advance on a flash drive or other disk all the necessary drivers for your computer or laptop. If there is no disk with drivers, they can be downloaded from the official website of the equipment manufacturer. If you don’t do this, you risk being left without the Internet after installing the new system.
  3. Which Windows 7 bit depth should I choose? Click « Control Panel -> System and Security -> System»

If your computer or laptop has more than 3 gigabytes of RAM installed, it is definitely worth installing the 64-bit version. In general, we recommend installing x86 only on weak or very outdated hardware in the 21st century, after all :). Please note that the drivers for the same device are different; in fact, these are two different systems!
  4. Download the Windows 7 installation ISO image:

    What are these images?

These are original MSDN images downloaded from the official Microsoft website. The only change is that the ability to select the system edition during installation is unlocked. No files are affected and the system is not activated.
Other versions of Windows 7 images can be downloaded.

  5. Prepare a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 7. In this guide, we will install the system from a flash drive because it is faster and easier. Similar instructions on how to create it can be found.
  6. Since during installation we will format the disk with the installed system, all important files stored on it must first be copied to removable media or to another partition of the hard drive. Remember that files located on the desktop are also stored on the system disk. If you need them, be sure to move them to another place. When formatting, all previously installed programs will be deleted, but this does not mean that they also need to be copied to flash drives and disks. It's easier to reinstall programs, so only worry about – photographs, documents, music, etc.

Create a bootable USB flash drive using . Next, insert it into the USB port and change the boot priority in the motherboard BIOS so that this flash drive boots first. If difficulties arise at this step, here are detailed instructions. If you did everything correctly by changing the boot priority, then after exiting the BIOS and restarting the computer, the message “Press any key” will appear on the screen. Fulfill this requirement - press any key to start booting from the installation media.

You only need to press the key ONCE and only at this stage of installation.

After pressing any key, a message will appear indicating that Windows is downloading files.

System installation

So, let's proceed directly to installing Windows 7. Wait until their extraction is completed, after which the installer start window will appear on the screen. Congratulations, the hardest part is over!

  1. Select your language, time format and layout. Click "Further".
  2. Click on the big button "Install" to launch the installation wizard.

  3. Attention!

Note: choose the version of Windows for which you have an activation key (you will enter it at the final stage of installation). If there is no key, read the instructions after installation.

  4. Read the license terms and accept them.
  5. Select the full installation (updating is not suitable for us).
  6. After starting the full installation, the partition selection screen appears. The installer window will have several sections:
First usually reserved by the system (recovery files are stored in it). It weighs 100 MB and does not need to be touched. Second is a system file - that is, Windows files are stored on it. A new system is being installed on it. Third section – file. User data is stored here and remains intact even after reinstalling Windows.
There may be other options: for example, there is no system-reserved partition or there is no volume with user files. In any case, you need the partition on which the previous system was already installed - it’s not for nothing that when preparing for installation, we advised you to look and remember its size.
If for some reason you still have one partition, the volume of which exceeds 250 GB, then it is better to immediately divide the disk into two volumes: one for Windows and programs (approximately 50-100 GB), the second for personal files. To do this, using the “Disk Setup” tool, delete the existing partition and first create the first volume (“Create” - specify the volume - “Apply”), and then the second.

The created volumes must be named “Partition 1”, “Section 2”. There should be no unallocated space left - the system simply will not see it.

So, you have at least two partitions, one of which is dedicated to operating system files. If it has not just been created, but has already been created before, then it needs to be formatted by deleting all data.
Click on the link "Disk Setup", highlight a section and press "Format". When formatting, all files on the system partition will be deleted (that is, the values in the “Full size” and “Free” columns will become the same). This is exactly what we wanted. To start a clean installation, click "Further", checking again that the partition you allocated for the system is highlighted.

  7. We wait. After selecting a partition and starting the installation, a window will appear on the screen in which you can see the process of unpacking Windows 7 files and writing them to the hard drive. While you can rest, you won’t have to do anything for 15-25 minutes.
During this installation time, the computer will reboot several times. After the installation is complete, you need to specify some system operating parameters.
  8. Enter computer name Computer name The computer name is what your computer will be called on the local network. and username. It is advisable to use Latin characters instead of Russian, this will help avoid problems with some programs in the future.
  9. You can set an administrator password if you wish, but this is not necessary. If you set a password, you will need to enter it every time you start your computer or laptop. We will leave the field empty for now; you can “password” your account later.
  10. Enter your activation key if you have one. If there is no key, uncheck "Automatically activate" and skip the step by pressing "Further".
  11. Specify Windows settings - it is better to select the recommended settings, when you get to know the new system better, configure it in your own way.
After selecting all the necessary parameters, the Windows 7 desktop will appear on the screen. You can begin your acquaintance with the system, but first reboot the computer and go into the BIOS again - here you need to change the boot priority back, putting the hard drive in first place.
  12. Turn on automatic system updates and wait until the process completes. Security updates will install most drivers. If there is no Internet, you can use a program to install drivers .

The instructions turned out to be quite impressive in volume, but now you know the main nuances when installing Windows 7 and can easily do it yourself. Carefully follow the above recommendations and the installation will definitely be successful.
